After an eight-year wait, Planning For Burial is back with a new full-length album. It’s Closeness, It’s Easy, the long-anticipated follow-up to Below the House, arrives on May 30th via The Flenser.
This album marks another evolution in Thom Wasluck’s deeply personal songwriting, capturing the quiet shifts of time, the weight of loss, and the search for meaning in what remains. While Below the House reflected on returning home and settling into adulthood, It’s Closeness, It’s Easy is about what comes after—navigating love, grief, addiction, and the creeping passage of time.
The first single, “A Flowing Field”, is out now, offering an early look into the album’s immersive sound.
An Album of Reflection and Reckoning
Over the years, Planning For Burial has built a reputation for raw, atmospheric songwriting, blending elements of slowcore, doom, and shoegaze. It’s Closeness, It’s Easy continues this tradition, but with a newfound immediacy—recorded in intense, immersive sessions that capture the album’s emotional weight.
From confronting the slow-motion grief of watching loved ones fade to the quiet pull of nostalgia and reconnection, this record reflects the complex emotions of middle age—where loss and love often coexist.
