Planning For Burial, It’s Closeness, It’s Easy, is out now on The Flenser.

The long-awaited new album from Planning For Burial, It’s Closeness, It’s Easy, is out now on The Flenser.

The follow-up to 2017’s Below the House, It’s Closeness, It’s Easy marks a new chapter for Thom Wasluck, the one-man force behind Planning For Burial. If the last record dealt with returning home and embracing adult responsibilities, this one sits with what comes after—the weight of passing time, aging, grief, and quiet shifts that come for us all.

Written over several years but recorded in focused, immersive sessions, the album doesn’t feel constructed so much as unearthed. It drifts through themes of loss and endurance: the death of a beloved cat, the unraveling of friendships, the slow burn of addiction, and the aging of parents and self. But it's not without warmth. There’s comfort in connection and in the quiet kind of love that deepens rather than fades.

As always, Wasluck created the album entirely himself—from the recording and mixing to the artwork and layout—working alone in his basement in Mountain Top, Pennsylvania. Mastered by Nicholas Wilbur at The Unknown in Anacortes, Washington.

It’s Closeness, It’s Easy is Planning For Burial’s fourth full-length album and arrives as the project enters its twentieth year. Originally emerging from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, Wasluck has long stood as a defining voice of all things gloom.
