Black Wing is the side project of Have a Nice Life's Dan Barrett. The Flenser celebrates the five year anniversary of the band's sophomore album, No Moon.
Released amidst the tumultuous landscape of the pandemic, No Moon echoes thebleakness of the Have a Nice Life ethos, but transposes it into a lighter, synth-led atmosphere.
From the lilt of "Bollywood Apologetics" to the insistent drone of "Is This Real Life, Jesus Christ," Barrett tackles the daily woes of existence in a sea of cold electronics.
Five years later, lockdown has ended, but the suffering has not. No Moonslices through all of it just as sharply as in 2020 – a catharsis that we still need just as deeply.
