Kayo Dot returns in 2012 with the fantastic Gamma Knife. This album sees the band incorporating distorted guitars and screamed vocals for the first time since 2006’s Dowsing Anemone with Copper Tongue. Knowing that this band is never one to stay within a particular style for more than a single release, and they also never retrace their steps, this is a whole new experience for you to immerse yourself in.
The album opens and closes with soothing, almost grey feeling songs, and tries to pummel you to death on the tracks in-between. Toby Driver has captured this in the visual presentation here as well. The subtle yet poignant artwork displayed on the jacket/labels/insert perfectly melds with the music found within. Simply put, this is an unforgettable album, one of the finest the band has ever released. We’re thrilled to once again be working with them!
